In The Way To Rainy Mountain, I am amazed by the author's creative use of language. He uses very detailed description to describe the things happening in the story. Through reading this story, I learn how to incorporate the author's detailed descriptive language into my essay. With the use of  rich descriptive language, the author makes the whole story to be more vivid and interesting, letting readers to feel like they are in the scene in the story. Also, the author uses a unique writing technique such as flashback to introduce her grandmother's daily life when she was alive. The technique allows the author to link past events to present in order to illustrate the idea she is trying to express in the story.

  1. This was a very good descriptive story because it showed how something can still remain so vivid in our minds and we have the capacity to describe a place that remains with us. We have memories that can be transformed into stories and only we can picture that point of view because it is our link.
I loved the introduction to this story because I could picture such a vivid memory and picture the location the author describes. While writing my story it was hard becoming the author of my place/ memory, but reading this story most definitely helped me write my own location.

  2. I thought this was pretty long and I kept thinking "get to the point" but afterwards I realized that even though I was rushing the story, I was never confused about the setting or what was happening because as I was reading I was forming an image already. This too helped me in writing my essay by making me realize that things don't always have to be rushed or to the point too quickly and missing key descriptions.

  3. I completely agree with both of you guys. I thought the writing was really descriptive and intelligently written explaining the places and scenes from his vivid memories. Reading the story helped me to incorporate similar styles into my rough draft. The author is brilliant at writing incorporating in a non-linear style to convey his memories in his writing.

  4. I absolutely agree with all of you guys. I feel the descriptive writing of the author is like a writing talent. I have been trying to write my rough draft as well, but it definitely is not as good as the text. I think this takes a lot of practice which is why brainstorming before writing is good. This type of writing style is very captivating.
